The Wayward School kicks off the “Flora & Fauna” summer season with the “School-Revisited” lecture series. We hope you’ll join us for this in-depth lecture and presentation with Javan Kerby Bernakevitch of Permaculture BC!
We don’t often associate conventional beehives with industrial agriculture: the boxes and the beekeepers’ overall operations seem small-scale enough and incomparable with big factory farms. Although the size of a conventional beekeeping operation pales in comparison to an industrial feedlot, the logic we humans have concocted to manage our bees is very similar.
- learn what it means to let the bees simply be who they are by keeping bees in a manner that respects their natural inclination
- learn what you can do in your city to help our bee populations cope with colony collapse disorder (the startling decline in world bee populations)
- learn the basic principles behind natural beekeeping and get design ideas (warre, and top-bar)
