“Urban Scavenging” Skillshare Workshop

Coup de Poubelle: A Guided Urban Scavenging Adventure

Instructors: Noah Ross and Georgio Giovinazzo

Saturday, March 19th, 1:00-3:00 pm

Location: Meet at Starbucks in the mall at Quadra & Mackenzie

Workshop Cost: $5 for Wayward School members ($10 non-members)

As a follow-up to their Wednesday March 16th lecture “Why are the dumpsters full…and locked?”, Noah Ross and Georgio Giovinazzo will take us on a guided bike tour of several locations that are useful sites for various forms of urban scavenging, primarily in the University Heights area of Mckenzie Street in Victoria. The focus will be on scavenging food; however, we will also visit a prominent wood and metal scrap site and discuss sources for any other resources that workshop participants are interested in finding, including seasonal locations for gardening supplies.

Given the nature of this endeavour, no results are guaranteed! Bring your bike, some gloves and a vessel to carry our findings in if you are interested in joining in the scavenging. Also, be ready to witness social stigmas/poor bashing in action.
